After a competitive selection process we are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Tony Mordini as the next Principal of Melbourne High School.
Originally from Perth, Dr Mordini has spent the last seven years at Mount Ridley College, one of the largest schools in the state, located in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. Prior to that Tony has held a number of Principal class roles, as well as other leadership roles in the tertiary sector, including three years in the Northern Territory working in indigenous tertiary education. He is also an experienced VCE teacher. Dr Mordini brings a strong focus on data driven and evidence-based improvement in teaching and learning, as well as a deep commitment to enhancing student health and wellbeing outcomes, as evidenced by his Doctoral studies. Dr Mordini has published and presented widely on subjects including student engagement and transition, and ethical thinking. He also holds a number of community service roles, including as an Honorary Justice for the Department of Justice and Community Safety, and as an Advisory Committee member of Community Hubs Australia.
Following the Department of Education and Training’s protocol, Dr Mordini’s appointment is provisional for a period of 14 days, after which it can be fully confirmed. He will commence at the school on the first day of term 1 2021.
